Miguel_Monteiro_2.jpg Miguel is one of the pioneers of Kizomba in the UK. He is renowned for the quality of his teaching, the fun of his classes and the wowing factor of his shows. He has been all over the place, teaching at the biggest congresses and weekenders. And on October 16th, he will be in Cambridge to give you a solid jump-start at Kizomba!

We have followed his 4 hours bootcamp in Milton Keynes, and we can testify that this workshop is guaranteed to give you enough material to start dancing Kizomba, enjoying it and feeling confident on the dancefloor. Two hours attendance is available as an option, but it is highly recommended to follow the whole 4 hours if you would like to get a complete coverage of the basics.

This is the first in a series of events exploring how we build local community and create a thriving, sustainable Cherry Hinton. ‘The Power of Community’ tells the inspirational story of a community that found creative ways of responding to an economic crisis.

All ages are welcome and everyone is invited to discuss the film and the topic of community over tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits (feel free to bring cake and biscuits if you feel inclined!).

This will be followed by an introductory class about Cuban salsa and the historical evolution of its various musical and dancing forms.

The event is FREE, with donations towards room hire welcomed.

Informal Bachata workshop, Sunday Nov.8th and Nov.15th

Where: Centre at St Paul's, Hills Road, Cambridge CB2 1JP

When: Sunday Nov.8th and Sunday Nov.15th, 17:00 - 19:00

There will be an informal workshop/working group at StPaul's for all those who would like to start or improve on their Bachata.

It will be coached by DJ Sacha, who has been practising Bachata dancing with various teachers across the past 5 years. Sacha will share his best tips and tricks, and will give some personalized advice on how to improve the look and feel of your Bachata.

What we will review together:

  • basic steps and body isolation;
  • connection between partners;
  • a few hints about the musical structure of a Bachata song;
  • two full fledged routines;
  • various tips and tricks on how to improve the look and feel of your Bachata.

The workshop will run across two consecutive Sundays (Nov.8th and Nov.15th), with sessions of 2 hours each.

There will be a fee to cover the various costs:
£6.- for 1 session
£10.- for the whole 4 hours workshop
Students get half price.
