and special thanks to all those who made the NYE party at La Tasca such a vibrant event! :-)

NO SALSA on THURSDAY January 3rd, we are reopening on Sunday January 6th and Thurday January 10th. Just to make you miss it a bit more... ;-)

2013 is definitely starting with loads of fantastically great Cuban salsa news:

  • the 4 weeks course with OSBANIS & ANETTA in Cambridge is CONFIRMED, yay! Dates: Sundays February 17th & 24th, then March 10th & 17th. More info coming very soon. We are soooo excited about welcoming such inspiring teachers in our town!
  • The Missing Sock has also confirmed their availability for the AFROSALSA 2013: July 13th-14th. We are now working on composing the programme and contacting the artists: be prepared for a few interesting ones, quality is what we like.
  • The date of the JESUS CUTINO CONCERT IN CAMBRIDGE, which was announced for February 8th, will have to be shifted due to unforeseen circumstances, but we are very determined to make it happen. We are now waiting for date confirmation from some alternative venues, probably sometime late February.
  • HAVANA D'PRIMERA, probably the best Cuban band of the 21st century, is COMING TO PLAY in LONDON at the Electric Brixton on Friday April 12th!!! This is a rare and precious event, it's like a dream come true, and the whole of the UK's Cuban salsa scene will be supporting it. Cambridge in the house? YESSSSS! We have 30 tickets for sale at the regular price of £22 (you save the booking fees), well, actually 27 tickets left because they are going very fast, and we will definitely make this a group trip. Yay!

See you soon :-)

AfroSalsa Workshop Series: 8 weeks course with NIKOLA MEDIC and ARIEL RIOS, Oct./Nov. 2012

When: Every Sunday in October and November, 18:30-20:30
Where: Man on the Moon, 2 Norfolk St., CB1 2LF

[Direct link to ONLINE BOOKING]

Cambridge Cuban Salsa is absolutely delighted and excited to continue the AfroSalsa Workshop Series with an 8 weeks master course featuring

NIKOLA MEDIC, Rueda World Champion Cubamemucho 2010
ARIEL RIOS, "Ary el Professor", International Teacher.

Every Sunday at the Man on the Moon, 2 Norfolk St., CB1 2LF (parking available), for the months of October and November:
18:30-19:30: CLOSED GROUP, available upon advance booking only.
19:30-20:30: Drop-in class with the invited teacher.
20:30-23:30: Paaaaarty time!
Nikola's dates: Sunday Oct. 7th, 21st, 28th, Nov. 4th, 18th, 25th.
Ariel's dates: Sunday Oct. 14th and Nov. 11th.

The time has come to bring Cuban salsa up to the next level in Cambridge: here is a unique opportunity to practice in a CLOSED GROUP for continuous progress with two of the most influential teachers available in the UK today!

Everyone who attended Nikola's workshop at the AfroSalsa Dance Festival 2012 last July asked us "oh please please please bring him back to Cambridge". His classes are a fantastic blend of irresistible humour and sound technical advice, the kind which will inspire you with quite a few revelations about Cuban salsa as seen from a clever and witty point of view. No convinced yet? Just have a look at this:

Nikola will be assisted in his classes by DANIELLE SATSIAS, who is known as one of the best female dancers of the Cuban scene in London.

No need to present "Ary the Professor" in Cambridge anymore, as he has been regularly with us for some fantastic monthly classes at the Sunday Salsa Lounge since the beginning of this year. Genuine Cuban flavour mixed with the expertise of a highly qualified teacher: you get the best of everything. Ariel is regularly invited to teach and perform at international congresses such as the one below in Riga:

The classes are followed by the usual Sunday Salsa Lounge Cuban party, which has been rocking the Cuban scene in Cambridge for the past two years, led by DjSacha whose knowledgeable and tasteful selection of danceable Cuban music has been validated by invitations to play at the most prestigious of the UK's Cuban congresses such as the Bournemouth International Cuban Salsa Congress, the Tropicalentura South Wales Cuban Congress and the AfroCuban Pati weekender series.

What's included in this 8 weeks master course:
This 8 weeks master class includes 1hr of weekly class in a CLOSED GROUP available only upon advance booking, from 18:30 to 19:30. Please note: the closed group is not suitable for beginners. If in doubt about your level, please contact DjSacha about it. Numbers will be strictly limited for the closed group, in order to get full attention from the teacher, and no extra admission will be taken once the course is started, in order to guarantee continuous progress. The closed group class will be followed by another hour in the form of the usual drop-in class with the invited teacher, from 19:30 to 20:30. Then the party will carry on until 23:30. You have the option to book the closed group only or a bundle with the drop-in class which will give you full access to the Sunday Salsa Lounge class and party for the months of October and November at a discounted rate. These options are available as two distinct packages:

  • Closed group only package: 2 months of Cuban salsa classes with top professional teachers in a closed group, including 6hrs tuition with Nikola Medic, 2hrs tuition with Ariel Rios, for a total of 8hrs in closed group. Price: £48 UNTIL SEPTEMBER 16TH, £56 until September 30th, £60 until the October 7th start date. Students: £40 / £48 / £50.
  • Full access package: 2 months "all you can eat" Cuban salsa with top professional teachers for October and November, including the closed group package above plus full access to the Sunday Salsa Lounge drop-in class and party afterwards with a top national DJ. Price: £85 UNTIL SEPTEMBER 16TH, £90 until September 30th, £95 until the October 7th start date. Students: £60 / £68 / £70.

Please note that the full access package corresponds to two months of complete salsa entertainment and tuition with top international teachers, including full access to the Sunday Salsa Lounge for October and November without anything extra to pay.

  • Nikola Medic and Ariel Rios are internationally acclaimed teachers with verifiable credentials.
  • These teachers are usually available only in London or at faraway congresses. By taking this workshop in Cambridge, you are making huge savings on transport costs.
  • Their invitation to Cambridge is the result of a careful editorial choice, as their classes have achieved great results and have been appreciated by many other dancers around the UK.
  • These teachers have been introduced locally at the AfroSalsa Festival 2012, and the feedback about their classes has been extremely positive.

TIME TO BRING YOUR CUBAN SALSA TO THE NEXT LEVEL: just join and enjoy this great opportunity to learn Cuban salsa with some of the best teachers available today in the UK!
