If you have never been to a full-fledged Cuban salsa congress, the goal of this post is to give you a faithful impression of what happens there.

Every great trip begins with counting your kit. A pile of funky T-shirts and tight fitting undies, a couple of iron-free shirts, the latest edition of Vincenzo Perna's "Timba: the sound of the Cuban crisis", the Mac and iPod loaded with 40 Gigs of Cuban tunes (some of them not even out as plastic CDs), a cowbell, a clave, two pairs of white shoes... It is gonna be good.

Destination: Salsa Explosion's Cuban Salsa Congress 2009.
